HOW THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE CAME TO BE
In December 1999, the Manila-based interim officers sought the help of other alumni in order to broaden the involvement of the alumni in activities leading up to the planned Grand Alumni Homecoming in April 2000.
Soon enough, volunteers were found and the first proof than an expanded set of officers would work was the highly successful Christmas gathering at the East Gate Center along EDSA on December 10, 1999. For the first time, almost all batches of graduates were presented. It was also in the same affair that consensus was arrived at to form an Executive Committee (ExCom) composed of the existing interim officers and volunteers to provide the much-needed leadership, impetus and direction to the Association. The Executive Committee has one major goal; involve all the alumni and ensure their participation in the Grand Homecoming on April 22 and 23, 2000 in Torrijos and in all alumni activities. Another very well attended affair was a Prelude held in February 1999. From then on, the momentum has built up and continues up to the present.
Since then, the following have composed the Executive Committee: Major Pablito Rodriguez, Mr. Felino Rosales, Atty. Aurelio Pamfilo Jr., Mr. Omet Regio, Engr. Floro Pamfilo, Mr. Terry Laus, Mr. Gabriel Revilla, Dr. Leonardo Gonzales, Engr. Noel Par, Mr. Jaime P. Barbosa, Mr. Emer de Guzman-Sta. Cruz, Dr. Mariela de Galicia, Ms. Tina Revilla-Pangilinan, Ms. Arlyn del Mundo, Ms. Ading Lim, Ms. Susan Solmirano Palor, Ms. Menerva de Guzman-Fabul and Dr. Ofelia Basco-Rosales. The other members are the Torrijos-based interim officers.
Aside from handling all the planning and preparations for the grand alumni homecoming, the Executive Committee is also involved in managing the financial resources of the association, notably the donations from the overseas alumni principally through the efforts of Mr. Fred Medina. Likewise, the Executive Committee hopes to implement short, medium and long-term projects within the school and the association itself.
As the adage goes, “Good intentions are not good enough. These ought to be translated into concrete actions that lead and inspire others”. Aside from the interim officers based in Torrijos and Manila respectively, the other members of the Executive Committee gladly accepted the invitation and the challenge to infuse dynamism, direction and the widest participation among all OMPSA Alumni. It behooves therefore for all concerned to unite, support and rally behind the Executive Committee and make the association truly successful for the sake of our school – the Our Mother of Perpetual Succor Academy.
